Texas Oncology is looking for an PRN Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position will support the Infusion Department at our South Austin and Lakeway locations. This PRN role will support a clinic that is open is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays. We are looking for someone who can work 2-3 days per week.

This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

What does the PRN Infusion RN do?

Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities:

Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
- Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.
Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
- Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
- Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
- Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management
- Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
- Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
- Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the PRN Infusion RN will have the following background and experience:

Level 1:

Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements):

3-5 years nursing experience.
Oncology certification preferred.

Level Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements):

Five years nursing experience.

Enliven is seeking an experienced RN (Registered Nurse) to service home infusion and Infusion Center patients in Austin and surrounding locations. The ideal candidate must be well-trained and able to give the best nursing care possible with little supervision. They will educate patients and their families on prevention and healthy habits. Confer with physicians and pharmacies to develop the initial treatment plan based on the physician's orders and the initial patient assessment. Provide hands-on care, management, and evaluation of the care plan and teaching of the patient under a physician based on ongoing assessments and as required by policy/regulation. Report patient care, conditions, and progress to the patient's physician, pharmacy, and Clinical Manager continuously. Implement patient care plan in conjunction with patient and family to assist them in achieving optimal resolution of needs/problems. Discharge patients after consultation with the physician and Clinical Manager, preparing and completing needed clinical documentation. Prepare appropriate medical documentation on all patients, including case conferences, patient contacts, medication order changes, re-certifications, progress updates, and care plan changes. Prepare visit/shift reports, update/summarize patient records, and confer with other healthcare disciplines to provide optimal patient care.
