Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Women's Services provides direct, compassionate care to women and infants in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the LPN supports maternal, newborn, and pediatric patient needs through monitoring, treatments, education, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams. This role requires emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and a patient-centered mindset.

Essential Functions

Contribute to patient assessment by collecting data for RN analysis
Perform care interventions including medication administration and specimen collection
Document care and changes in patient condition
Assist patients with personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
Educate patients and families regarding care appropriate to condition, age, and culture
Support interdisciplinary care coordination for transfer, discharge, and referrals
Promote a safe and emotionally supportive environment for women and infants
Advocate for patients' physical and emotional well-being
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or RN

Qualifications

Education

Graduate of an accredited practical/vocational nursing program

Licenses/Certifications

Current LPN license in state of practice or Compact State License (if applicable)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required upon hire)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – within time frame specified in facility policy
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – within time frame specified in facility policy
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – within time frame specified in facility policy
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Handle with Care– within time frame specified in facility policy
IV Therapy Certification Course – within time frame specified in facility policy

Experience

Demonstrated ability to work in high-stress environments
Previous experience in women’s health or pediatric care preferred
