Job Description Manages and oversee unit operational functions, human resource management, special projects, and process redesign. Coordinates project teams to ensure quality implementations within established timelines. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This role will be focusing on Quality measures, specifically CLABSI, within the NICU. Schedule is 2 weekdays with one of them always Tuesday. Hours would be as early as 7AM some days and usually 8A-5P. Experience Minimum 3 years RN experience; NICU preferred Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in nursing, education, leadership, or other healthcare related field Minimum 1 year of leadership and management experience in a healthcare setting Previous Level 4 NICU experience Previous experience in Quality/CLABSI helpful Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing Certification Summary Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment or upon start of clinical shift if working in the Emergency Department (ED) Professional Nursing certification deemed by department required upon one year of hire Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities An understanding of process improvement and project management Must have excellent written and verbal skills Demonstrates the ability to organize workloads and resources Has strong interpersonal skills to interact positively and productively with a variety of personnel within the hospital, including administrative and executive staff Job Responsibilities Practice (Caring for the Patient) Manages environment for delivery of care. Acts as clinical resource for patient population in area. Maintains ability to assist with clinical care. Development (Fostering Clinical Knowledge) Participates in educational process related to delivery of healthcare. Maintains own professional development. Fosters professional development of others via constructive performance feedback, input, and coaching. Engagement (Engaging and Leading Professionally) Provides leadership for project management and change. Participates actively in and supports shared leadership councils. Fosters collegial relationships between team members, other departments, and medical staff members. Demonstrates fiscal accountability in supporting budget preparation, monthly analysis, and compliance to budget guidelines. May serve as unit leader in absence of manager. Facilitates and coordinates work toward care standardization and performance improvement in accordance with evidence-based practice. Performs other responsibilities as required. Experience 5 years of experience in nursing 2 years of experience in critical care with advanced clinical assessment skills Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing Experience in progressive leadership and training as house supervisor Previous PICU, ED preferred Epic Microsoft Teams, Cisco and RedCap expertise Education Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred Certification Summary Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of employment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to manage multiple and continually changing priorities and make rapid decisions Demonstrated ability in integrating pathophysiology, psychology, and sociology into the pediatric clinical setting Effective verbal and written communication skill and ability to handle conflict and reach consensus and collaboration Must have computer experience and proficiency in a wide variety of software, e.g.., Microsoft Office applications and database management Must be able to successfully pass the Basic Windows Skill Assessment at 80% or higher rating within 30 days of employment Job Responsibilities Coordinates patient placement activities via Transfer Center to optimize patient flow, patient outcomes, admission appropriateness, and cost efficiencies in support of organizational strategic initiatives while working with campus house supervisors, physicians, and nursing staff. Maintains assigned databases. Collaborates in collection of data for identification and resolution of flow issues. Collects, analyzes, and interprets outcome data systematically to identify problem areas and assess need for improvement and/or support changes in systemwide processes in relations with Transfer Center. Prepares periodic reports as directed. Participates actively and contributes to organizational initiatives that impact patient flow. Supports continuous performance and quality improvement. Communicates openly with appropriate leadership team to ensure knowledge of key decision factors. Serves as expert clinical resource for patient placement by ensuring smooth functioning of Transfer Center process to reduce wait times and avoid unnecessary patient movements. Maintains positive working relationship and demonstrates excellent customer services skills in all interactions between Transfer Center and physicians, internal customers, and external customers. Supervises Bed Placement Coordinator. Empowers, promotes, and develops team members by fostering an environment which promotes professional development and problem-solving, maintaining and enhancing knowledge of current issues and integrating ideas into practice. Assists with Transfer Center hiring process. Assists with orientation and continuing education of peers.
