NaphCare is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team of medical professionals in Pueblo, CO, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Pueblo County Detention Center.

 

As a Correctional Registered Nurse (RN), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality care that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

  • Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical histories.
  • Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
  • Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information.

Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of CO
  • Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (AHA required)
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed
  • Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

 

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

Complete timely, accurate documentation in the medical record; meet all agency and regulatory charting, reporting, certification/recertification, and discharge summary requirements. Overview NaphCare is hiring a Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team of medical professionals in Pueblo, Colorado, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Pueblo County Detention Center. This is a Full Time Evenings position! Pay rates range from $37.80-$39.90 per hour. Pay rates range per hour based on employment status, site needs, licensure, and experience. As a Correctional Charge Registered Nurse (RN) , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence while also overseeing the nursing staff and operations, acting as a supervisor and coordinator. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs. Responsibilities The Charge Registered Nurse coordinates shift activities and performs a wide range of duties, including assessing patients, administering medications, managing emergencies, and ensuring adherence to established protocols and procedures. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to: Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical histories Conducting daily clinical rounds, providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information Qualifications Experience / Requirements / Qualifications Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within State Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred) Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Two years of full time RN experience with knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Able to work independently and in a team Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening Physical Capabilities: Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
