Job Summary and Qualifications

The registered nurse is responsible for coordinating the nursing care of assigned patients in the Unit in order to provide quality patient care to patients in applicable age specific populations (see addendum). The RN applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development. Employee is responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the appropriate age populations. According to established facility policies and procedures, the registered nurse provides and supplies professional nursing care exercising independent judgment in utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate. The RN provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient care team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Actual duties and responsibilities may vary depending on assigned area.

  • Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Service Division.
  • Assesses the patients condition and nursing needs utilizing the nursing process.
  • Provides, directs and evaluates nursing care provided to patients and reports pertinent observations and reactions of patients to physicians and Charge Nurse.

Work Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hour shifts; 30-minute commutable address to facility for On-Call. We are seeking a highly precise, rapid-response Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse to join our elite interventional cardiology team at HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast in Pasadena. Operating within our state-of-the-art diagnostic and interventional cardiac suites, you will care for patients undergoing critical procedures including angioplasties, stenting, cardiac catheterizations, and pacemaker placements. As a certified Primary Stroke Center with advanced cardiovascular capabilities, our lab works closely with our Level III Trauma team to handle emergency ST-segment elevation myocardial infarctions ( STEMI ) . This position is perfect for an experienced Cath Lab RN or IR (Interventional Radiology) nurse who thrives in a high-tech environment and seeks top-tier HCA compensation, manageable call schedules, and clear avenues for clinical growth close to home. Job Summary and Qualifications The RN in the Cardiac Cath Lab is responsible for performing either scrubbing duties, documentation of the procedure on the hemodynamic system, and circulating for diagnostic or interventional cardiology/radiology procedures. Responsibilities also include assessing the needs of the patient, providing age specific patient care based on assessment data, current knowledge/skills which include policies and procedures of the department and physician orders. Accepts assignments that coincide with her/his experience, knowledge, and ability. What you will do in this role: May perform scrubbing duties for diagnostic/interventional cardiology and radiology procedures. Assesses and reassesses the patient to gather data relevant to the patient’s individual, age specific needs, and disease process. Provides age specific patient care according to the assessment data, departmental policies and procedures and physician orders. Evaluates the patient’s response to interventions. Documents assessment data, patient care, interventions, and evaluations in the medical record. Documents drug procedure and equipment data required for generating patient billing information and for departmental inventory control. Participates in multidisciplinary discharge planning. Ensures a safe environment for the patient. Participates in teaching the patient and family. Quality assurance and Core Measures for Cath Lab. Completes continuing education and in-service training in order to maintain current knowledge or skills to perform job responsibilities. Category I exposure are tasks that involve exposure to blood and body fluids. Therefore, personal protective equipment is required. What qualifications you will need: Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date) Current BLS and ACLS issued from American Heart Association required 1 year of clinical Cath Lab experience as a licensed RN in an acute care setting.
