  • Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:

Education and Formal Training

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred

  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure

  • Must complete Clinical Ladder packet and be approved for RN II, RN III, RN IV

Unit Description:

  • Cardiac Surgery is a surgical department with 2 Operating Rooms and a Hybrid OR.
  • Our patients include Adult and Geriatric patients.
  • Our Care team consists of a team that provides safe quality care: Registered Nurses, CRNAs, Physicians, Perfusionist and Surgical Technologist
  • Our PCM and Charge Nurse are available to support our clinical needs with access to education, resources, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Currently the charting system for Perfusion is paper charting.
  • Primary coverage: Monday-Friday, with on-call coverage for after-hours, weekends, and emergencies.

Work Experience:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
  • Valve Repair and Replacement
  • Aortic Aneurysm Repair
  • Vascular and Hybrid Procedures
  • ECHMO
  • Manage cell salvage and autotransfusion systems
  • Must have at least 1 year of Pre-Op, or ICU experience
  • Not accepting new graduates for this role

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language

  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills 

  • Verbal and written skills required 

  • Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills

We operate 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, no weekends, no major holidays, and no call. Shifts vary in start time depending on your role on the unit. New Graduate Nurses are not accepted in this unit. Must have at least a year of Pre-Op, PACU, ICU or ED experience. (Pre/Post Op) Work Experience: Gynecology General Surgery Podiatry With our additional procedure room, we support the Lung Nodule Clinic for bronchoscopies with anesthesia, and our mental health patients for ECTs.
