Caregiver, CNA, or Patient Care Tech (Mon, Tue, Wed 7am to 3pm)
This Is More Than a Traditional Caregiver Job
We are looking for an experienced caregiver who is also organized, proactive, and a strong problem solver.
You will provide personal care while also helping manage the client's calendar, appointments, household needs, bills, paperwork, errands, and daily schedule.
The most important part of this job is taking ownership.
We need someone who notices what needs to be done and takes the next step. You should be able to anticipate needs, solve problems, and follow through without waiting for constant direction.
If something needs attention, take action. If there is a problem, help find the next step.
See it. Think about it. Take action. Follow through.
If that sounds like how you naturally work, this may be a great role for you.
What You Will Do
Caregiving
Depending on the client's needs, you may help with:
Bathing, dressing, and grooming
Toileting and personal care
Walking and mobility
Safe transfers and fall prevention
Meal preparation, eating, and hydration
Medication reminders
Light exercise
Dementia support and redirection
Companionship and transportation
Light housekeeping
Laundry and changing linens
You will also watch for changes in the client's health, mood, behavior, or abilities and report concerns to our team.
Calendar & Appointments
You will help keep the client's schedule organized, including:
Scheduling and confirming appointments
Keeping the calendar updated
Planning transportation
Tracking family visits and home services
Preparing for and following up after appointments
Watching for schedule conflicts
We want someone who looks ahead instead of waiting until the last minute.
Bills, Mail & Paperwork
You may help the client stay organized with basic financial and household matters, including:
Sorting mail and organizing bills
Keeping track of due dates
Organizing receipts and important documents
Tracking basic household expenses
Helping with forms and paperwork
Reviewing statements for something unusual
Communicating with approved family members or professionals
You will not make major financial, legal, or medical decisions for the client. You must protect the client's privacy and follow all instructions from the client, family, care team, or authorized decision-maker.
Household Management
You will help keep the client's home running smoothly. This may include:
Grocery shopping and meal planning
Keeping household supplies stocked
Picking up prescriptions
Organizing the refrigerator and kitchen
Arranging repairs or home services
Tracking deliveries and running errands
Helping care for household pets
Keeping important areas of the home clean and organized
You are not expected to personally fix every problem, but you are expected to notice problems and help move them toward a solution.
Communication & Follow-Through
A big part of this job is making sure things do not fall through the cracks.
You may communicate with:
Family members
A Place at Home leadership
Doctors' offices and pharmacies
Care managers and fiduciaries
Home health providers
Household vendors
Transportation providers
Other approved professionals
If something needs attention, make sure there is a clear next step.
We are looking for someone who closes the loop.
What “Proactive” Looks Like
Instead of simply saying:
“The client is almost out of medication.”
We want someone who says:
“The client is almost out of medication. I checked the bottle, contacted the pharmacy, and reached out to the right person about the refill.”
Instead of:
“The client has a doctor's appointment tomorrow.”
We want:
“I confirmed the appointment, checked transportation, and made sure everything is ready.”
Instead of:
“There isn't much food in the refrigerator.”
We want:
“I checked what the client needs, made a grocery list, and planned the shopping trip.”
That level of ownership is very important in this position.
You May Be a Great Fit If You:
Have caregiving experience
Are highly organized and dependable
Naturally take initiative
Are a strong problem solver
Can work independently
Are comfortable managing a calendar
Can organize bills and basic paperwork
Are comfortable making professional phone calls
Can use email, text, and smartphone apps
Pay attention to details and follow through
Stay calm when plans change
Communicate clearly
Know when to solve a problem and when to ask for help
Treat private information with care and respect
Experience as a caregiver, CNA, personal assistant, household manager, care coordinator, medical assistant, or executive assistant may be helpful.
Requirements
Prior caregiving experience preferred
California Home Care Aide registration or ability to become registered
Ability to pass required background checks
Current TB clearance or ability to obtain one
CPR/First Aid certification as required
Valid driver's license
Reliable transportation
Current auto insurance if driving a client
Ability to safely perform the physical duties of caregiving
Smartphone and ability to use scheduling and care documentation apps
Strong English communication skills
