Nesset Family Medicine Clinic is a residency clinic. Family Medicine is a three-year residency program. We have 11 Faculty members and 27 Residents. We see patients of all ages, from the pediatric to the geriatric population. It is a great place to learn and grow in the Advocate Health System.

As a Medical Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day.

As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

Welcome patients and support their transition into care.

Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.

Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.

Administer medications and vaccines as directed.

Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.

Document care accurately in the electronic health record.

Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.

Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.

Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.

Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.

Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.

May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.

Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

Physical Abilities Testing may be required.

T Schedule : Full-Time / 40 Hours Per Week Mon & Wed 10:00 am - 7:00 pm; Tue, Thu & Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (closed daily for lunch 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm) What You’ll Do Interviews patients and measures vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height) Maintains patient health records to ensure accurate and up-to-date records Prepares treatment rooms, cleans and sterilizes instruments Medication administration including injections, performs laboratory tests, operates EKGs and other diagnostic equipment as permitted by state regulations Performs administrative tasks, assists at the front desk, schedules appointments, makes follow-up calls, and orders medical supplies Performs other duties as assigned What You’ll Bring National certification in Medical Assisting from a Premise Health approved organization OR Certificate/Diploma and Transcripts from an accredited Medical Assistant program with hands on externship completed and passed- total online courses are not accepted Current certification with hands-on training in AHA, ARC or equivalent Basic Life Support for health care providers is required CMA certification required from the American Association of Medical Assistants, the National Center of Competency Testing, the National Certification Medical Association, American Medical Technologists, or any other recognized certifying body approved by the Board of Medical Examiners (South Carolina only) Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred Work-life balance is at the foundation of how decisions are made and where Premise is headed.
