Overview

The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing total comprehensive nursing to patients and their families through the implementation of a plan of care. The plan is based upon the patient's developmental and health care needs identified through the assessment of the patient's physical, psychological, socioeconomic status, and physician orders regarding care, treatment, and education. The Clinical Nurse understands the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values, and management of patient care services. The Clinical Nurse actively supports and incorporates ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, North Carolina Board of Nursing Practice Act, WakeMed's Division of Nursing Professional Practice model, and WakeMed's Patient & Family Centered Care (PFCC) model. Description Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) RN Per Diem needed for the Emergency Department at UNC Medical Center . The UNC Hospitals Emergency Department is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center serving as North Carolina's primary referral hospital as well as also serving as the community hospital for Chapel Hill/Orange County. The SANE RN will need to respond within one hour of being contacted for a patient exam. Duties will include perform medical forensic exams on adult and pediatric victims of sexual assault including head to toe medical assessment for trauma, detailed genital/anal examination, forensic specimen collection, supportive photo competent documentation of bodily and genital-anal injuries. While providing compassionate care to the patient the SANE RN will also work closely with the victim/survivor advocates, law enforcement, criminal justice officials and civil attorneys. Strongly prefer experience SANE nurses. Must have completed SANE training and hold a current SANE education/training/program certificate of completion issued by an approved Adult Adolescent and Pediatric SANE program.
