
RN- Clin & Prof Development Spec - SSO Staff Development - USA Health Shared Services

Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates evidence-based educational programs for clinical staff across the health system.
- Coordinates orientation, onboarding, residency, and transition-to-practice programs for newly hired clinicians.
- Develops and maintains annual competency validation processes and skills assessments.
- Provides continuing education opportunities that support professional growth and clinical excellence.
- Assesses learning needs using quality metrics, regulatory requirements, departmental requests, and performance data.
- Incorporates adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and innovative teaching strategies into educational offerings.
- Serves as a clinical education consultant for nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams.
- Supports implementation of new equipment, technology, clinical workflows, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Assists departments with practice changes by developing educational plans and competency validation tools.
- Promotes evidence-based practice and supports research utilization within clinical areas.
- Provides coaching and mentoring to staff, preceptors, charge nurses, and emerging leaders.
- Ensures educational programs meet requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies including The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, state licensing boards, and specialty organizations.
- Maintains documentation of competencies, certifications, educational activities, and continuing education records.
- Participates in accreditation surveys, regulatory inspections, and organizational readiness activities.
- Supports mandatory education and annual compliance requirements.
- Collaborates with quality, patient safety, infection prevention, risk management, and operational leaders to address educational needs related to quality initiatives.
- Uses organizational data to identify performance gaps and develop targeted educational interventions.
- Evaluates educational effectiveness using measurable outcomes and quality indicators.
- Participates in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence initiatives.
- Utilizes the organization's Learning Management System (HealthStream) and other educational technologies to assign, manage, track, and report educational activities.
- Develops online learning modules, blended learning experiences, simulation activities, and educational resources.
- Maintains educational records and generates reports to support compliance and organizational metrics.
- Assists with implementation and optimization of educational technologies.
- Partners with nursing leadership, physicians, advanced practice providers, allied health professionals, and operational departments to support organizational goals.
- Participates in interdisciplinary committees, councils, and professional governance activities.
- Serves as a resource for policy implementation, clinical practice standards, and professional development initiatives.
- Contributes to strategic planning related to workforce development and clinical education.
- Maintains current clinical knowledge through continuing education, professional organizations, and evidence-based literature.
- Supports specialty certification, clinical ladder participation, and career advancement opportunities.
- Demonstrates leadership consistent with the mission, vision, and values of USA Health.
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards

Additional Information
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and 2 years of professional nursing experience. Required
- Master's Degree in nursing and 2 years Acute care experience Preferred
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
- BLS Instructor within 180 Days Required
- ACLS INSTRC - ACLS Instructor within 180 Days Preferred
- PALS INSTRC - PALS Instructor within 180 Days Preferred
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
