We are currently hiring for 2nd and 3rd shift with rotating weekends required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse provides professional, direct client care in a medical detoxification and residential program settings in accordance with established program procedures. This position provides, delegates, coordinates and evaluates patient care through the collaborative efforts of health team members and in accordance with the nursing process and standards of care and practice. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee fulfillment of patient’s medical orders, address patient medical concerns. 
  • Triage medical concerns, administer medications and injections to patients as directed by directed physician. 
  • Monitors Client self-administration of medication. 
  • Serve as first line in any medical emergency and works with the clinical team in incidences of psychiatric emergencies. 
  • Perform laboratory procedures from specimen collections, as authorized. 
  • Record patient observations and activities in patient records accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy and procedure. 
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff. 
  • Oversee all aspects of admission/discharge process, including: 
  • Pre-screen of new patients for appropriateness for admission. 
  • Obtain physical assessment data and health history. 
  • Inventory and caring for patients’ personal possessions. 
  • Complete discharge paperwork. 
  • Provide quality assessments to client’s medication sheets and files to determine if clients are receiving appropriate medication in a timely manner, including proper destruction of medication. 
  • Follow all policies and procedures with regard to patient information protection, including alcohol-drug patient confidentiality and HIPAA.  
  • Attend training on chemical dependency as required. 
  • Maintains and adheres to established infection control/employee health program. 
  • Maintain and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.  
  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with current clients, family members, referrals sources and vendors.  

Education:    

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Completion of accredited RN program, required.  
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree, preferred.   

Certifications:  

  • Current, valid RN license.   
  • Current BLS/CPR certification. 

Experience:  

  • Minimum three to five (3-5) years of experience in behavioral health or residential detoxification program setting is preferred.

Assesses (and reassesses), plans, implements, and evaluates nursing interventions/plans of care/patient goals. Provides patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols, and established policies and procedures. Provides patient/family teaching based on identified learning needs, readiness to learn, and barriers to learning. Proactively identifies risk to patient safety and identifies opportunities to reduce medical/health care errors (i.e. appropriate reporting of errors/incidents). Identifies ethical issues in care and develops plan to address. Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician’s orders, protocols, policies and procedures. Assesses patient pain level upon admission and as necessary, depending upon diagnosis utilizing the numerical pain scale. Reassesses effectiveness of pain control and notifies physicians as needed, as well as, documents assessment and patients’ response to medication. Responsible for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD. Collaborates with surgeon, anesthesiologist, clinical coordinator and surgical technicians to assure the patients’ well being during surgical intervention. Maintains sterile fields and directs the correct care, handling, and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments. Identifies patients correctly by checking patient identification bands and consent forms as well as verifying operative procedure and site before taking patients to the operating room. Applies principles of aseptic practice, oversees the selection and preparation of supplies, equipment and instrumentation to all surgical cases. Applies principles of body mechanics and adapts them to various situations during positioning and transfer of patients. Assures that all techniques and practices carried out during the surgical procedure are accurate and reflect standards of perioperative practice. Maintains sponge, needle and instrument counts according to policies and procedures, including notifying the surgeon of the result of the counts. Identifies, labels, cares for and handles all specimens and cultures according to established policy and procedure. Qualifications Qualifications : Current MA RN License required. ACLS upon hire OR must hold an active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hire. Recent OR experience required. CNOR preferred. Excellent communication and critical thinking skills required. Must take call per unit rotation.
