Assists the ED physician with patient evaluation, assists the ICU nurse with initiation of thrombolytic therapy (mixing, administration and monitoring) and preparation of patient for Endovascular treatment as indicated. Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead. Verbalizes stroke alert process. Performs NIHSS and bedside swallow, assists with telemedicine consult and physician examination/evaluation of thrombolytic therapy inclusion/exclusion criteria, mixing and administration of thrombolytic therapy if patient deemed a candidate, preparation of patient for Endovascular treatment as indicated, assumes patient care while in the Emergency Department. Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the NIHSS training and a minimum of 8 hours of stroke related training annually. Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program. BSN preferred. Requires a minimum of 2 years emergency room experience. One to three years supervisory experience preferred. BLS, ACLS, PALS (current upon hire) TNCC (within 6 months of hire) Current Florida nursing license. Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
