Staff Development Coordinator

Shifts Available: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:00pm with flexibility & NO ON-CALL

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Preventionist to join our team at Emerald Nursing and Rehab Lakeview. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in promoting excellence in patient care by developing and implementing effective training programs for our staff. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the ongoing staff development.

  • Plan, develop, and coordinate orientation educational activities to ensure all staff is clinically skilled and knowledgeable, inclusive of new employees and the required ongoing in-services through job shadowing, monitoring, and conducting competency checks.

  • Coordinate and keep records for educational activities according to policy. Ensure proper keeping of educational and training records.

  • Knowledge of the Federal and State Regulations requirements.

  • Partner up with new staff for first two shifts on the floor as applicable.

  • Assist Director of Nursing (DON) daily as needed with staff training/orientation.

  • Responsible for assisting with Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement studies and attending monthly QAPI meetings.

  • Collaborate with DON in developing/training all staff on customer service care program.

  • Provide education input to nutrition services, laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance departments.

  • Develop process for continual working alongside staff to improve quality of care and customer service.

  • Develop and implement competency skill checks for staff and test at least annually.

  • May assist with development of Long-Term Care Policies, as applicable

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Takes point on facility infection control and prevention from a tracking and trending perspective. Infection Prevention certification support from the facility.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse Nursing program.

  • License as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nebraska.

  • Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • Prefer experience in Long-Term Care.
