This role combines clinical nursing expertise, patient education, surgical coordination, and administrative support to provide continuity of care throughout the surgical journey.
Working closely with physicians and the clinical team, the Surgical Services Coordinator serves as a key resource for patients and families before, during, and after surgery.

- Participate in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient education programs, outcome measures, and quality activities.
- Serve as a clinical resource to patients and families, providing education, coaching, and counseling throughout the surgical care journey.
- Identify high-risk patient care concerns and trends and implement appropriate interventions to support optimal quality outcomes.
- Coordinate patient participation in required preparatory and informational meetings, support groups, pre-surgical testing, and surgical clearances.
- Collaborate with providers to assess and address patient clinical questions and concerns before, during, and after surgery.
- Coordinate surgical scheduling and support continuity throughout the surgical process.
- Facilitate insurance authorizations and completion of required administrative documentation, including FMLA forms.
- Partner closely with physicians, clinical teams, patients, and families to support coordinated, patient-centered surgical care.
- Maintain effective communication and organization across clinical and administrative aspects of the surgical program.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland or Compact eligibility in accordance with MBON, required.
- Five (5) years of direct patient care experience as an RN, including three (3) years of bariatric program experience, required.
- Basic Life Support, Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification, required.
- Seven (7) years of direct patient care experience as an RN, including three (3) years of bariatric program experience, preferred.
- Ambulatory nursing experience within a surgical specialty practice, preferred.

Compensation
- Pay Range: $47.00 - $70.54 per hour.
