Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for examination, records vital signs and history, and provides treatment as applicable
  • Prepares exam/treatment rooms; select, setup, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures
  • Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under providers orders
  • Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, and analyze and prepare for testing, log results, and perform lab call-backs
  • Document basic patient care and procedures, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records
  • Schedule patients for tests, initial, and follow-up appointments if applicable in care setting
  • Instructs patients and family regarding treatment and medication instructions
  • Collaborate, take direction, and initiate actions that will allow the assumption of cross-functional team actions to ensure seamless patient care
  • Phlebotomy
  • Perform opening/closing clinic duties and patient call backs
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Certificate/License: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through one of the following programs is preferred (RMA, AAMA, NCCT, CMAC, AMCA).  Current BLS certification is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient flow and front desk duties: • Register patients and update patient records. • Provide patient assistance with the registration process and provide appropriate information to patients as needed. • Document medical information in the patient records. • Procure proper documentation of patient financial status to allow VG to identify appropriate billing services. • Set appointments with VG’s OHP specialist to enroll eligible patients to OHP as appropriate. • Perform basic office operations. • Use the Virginia Garcia Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. • Answer telephones and assist callers as needed. • Schedule appointments and print out the day’s schedule. • Ensure proper documentation is maintained pursuant to quality assurance guidelines. • Prepare Clinic at start of day to receive patients; open doors, turn on lights, and prepare sign-in sheets. • Prepare the Clinic at closing, at the end of the day: make sure lights are turned off, doors are locked, and records are secure. • Maintain waiting room; clean and orderly. • Check-out patients. • Reconcile daily cash and deposit cash to the bank. • Scan documents into patient’s electronic health records. How you'll contribute: A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) who excels in this role: Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments. Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given. Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas. Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration. What we're looking for: High school diploma or equivalent required.
