Degree from an accredited Nursing Program.
Current State Registered Nurse License.
Current CPR

Qualifications

Required Skills:

Successful completion of accredited Registered Nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred.
Current state license as a Registered Nurse required.
Current CPR Certification required.
One (1) year recent experience preferred. Acute care setting preferred.
ACLS certification preferred in LTACH and Texas hospitals.

Additional Qualifications/Skills:

Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice, infection control, and wound care standards of practice.
Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS.
Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, and utilizes proper policies, procedures, and guidelines in caring for patients.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
Demonstrates general computer skills including: data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
Ability to work closely and professionally with others.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within assigned unit. The role is also responsible for patient assessments, planning, supervising, interventions, and evaluations designed to prevent complications of physical disability, restore optimal functioning, and help the patient adapt to an altered life style. Integrates the hospital’s mission and “Guiding Principles” into daily practice.

Registered Nurse - PRN | Las Cruces Recovery Center | Las Cruces, New Mexico About the Job: PURPOSE STATEMENT: The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care to clients. Supervising care treatment and services of client care provided by LPNs, CNAs and other staff on assigned unit and shift. Developing, implementing, and evaluating an individual plan of care for each client. Assessment and re-assessment of clients. Communicating appropriate information with the interdisciplinary team. Reporting client concerns and changes in condition to supervisor and/or provider in a timely manner. Roles and Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides and coordinates care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of client, develops and implements nursing care plans, maintains medical records and educates clients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions while ensuring client safety at all times. Assesses clients’ status on an ongoing basis and communicates finding to the providers timely. Ensures nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plan is completed upon admission. Obtains provider’s orders (verbal or via telephone) accurately and documents appropriately; transcribes and reviews provider’s orders ensuring all required elements are present and appropriate per policy and procedures. Accurately administers medications, per ordered ,utilizing at least two client identifiers. Notifies providers of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergencies, pertinent lab results, or change in medical status regarding response to medications, etc. Assesses and documents effects of PRN medications. Maintains accountability of administration, recording, control and security of medications, including narcotics. Completes admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed. Confers regularly with treatment team (e.g., nurses, therapists, program managers, provider) regarding client care. Attends and participates in the unit activities such as therapy groups, family meetings as appropriate, staffing, unit meetings, etc. Provides education/explanation to clients, families, and co-workers regarding medication usage/maintenance, common side effects, client's rights, as well as other topics necessary for optimal client care. Monitors client acuity, census, staffing needs, and escalates coverage needs to supervisor/Charge RN. Ensures thorough, accurate documentation is completed for all clients on each shift and client assignment sheets are completed daily and tasks are carried out as assigned. Communicates thorough hand-off reports to oncoming staff and supervisors. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing. One or more years’ nursing experience within clinical area of service provided by facility preferred. Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred. Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures. Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: Valid current RN license from the state or from a compact state, where applicable. Certified in Psychiatric Nursing preferred. CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements. WORK LOCATION: This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position.
