The Licensed Practical Nurse performs selected nursing acts in the care of the ill, injured, or infirm patient under the direction of a registered nurse. Under the direction of the registered nurse, provides nursing care in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Under the direction and supervision of the RN assesses and diagnoses patient and family needs to provide quality care to assigned patients.
- Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures as necessary for the care of the patient.
- Maintains up to date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to ensure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team, to ensure quality care.
- Operates order communication system.
- Uses computer to enter orders.
- Accurately transcribes physician orders according to hospital policy and procedures.
- Follows the process for patient transfer and/or discharge.
- Ensures the necessary supplies and services are ordered and obtained for the unit.
- Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure.
Minimum Education
- Technical Diploma/Certificate Practical Nursing Required
Licenses and Certifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse State of Florida or eligible compact state Upon Hire Required
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in acute care nursing, knowledge, and skills.
- Must have superior multi-tasking and prioritizing skills, as well as organizational skills.
