About the Opportunity:

Gastro Health is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join our private practice team in Woodbridge, VA. Our APPs play an active part in delivering high-quality GI care by coordinating individualized treatment plans under physician supervision and engaging in clinical responsibilities that help drive high-quality, patient-centered care.

We welcome APPs who want to grow their expertise in gastroenterology within a practice model that values clinical autonomy, work-life balance, and long-term career growth.   • Work collaboratively with a team of 8 gastroenterologists, 4 APPs, and support staff
  • Monday through Friday schedule: 8AM to 5PM
  • Average 15-18 patient encounters per day
  • Outpatient consults and follow-ups

Candidate Requirements:

  • Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in the state of Virginia
  • National certification as an NP or PA with prescriptive authority
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish (preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year of APP experience required
  • Gi or internal medicine experience preferred

Our multidisciplinary team is composed of pediatric psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, academic counselors, psychologists, and expressive (art) therapists, who see to all aspects of care. We offer two separate programs to meet the distinct medical needs of children and teens. The Child Psychiatric Unit (CPU) is a 12-bed unit for patients aged 2-12. The Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (APU) is a 14-bed unit for those aged 13-17. About The Role The Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who practices within their scope of practice as appropriate in their jurisdictional area and in accordance with their organizational Medical Staff Bylaws. Department 10096 Bone and Marrow Transplant Pay Range $110,052.80 - $183,414.40 About The Role The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is credential by the medical staff and functions within their scope of practice in their jurisdictional area and in accordance with organizational medical staff bylaws. They are responsible for providing evidenced-based care for the management of patients, including assessment, implementation and evaluation of a detailed plan of care, which incorporates diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The APP demonstrates competency in providing age-appropriate care to patients as defined by certification and training and provides family centered care to meet family needs, including psychological support, education and discharge planning in conjunction with other related disciplines. The APP initiates, participates and collaborates with divisional and organizational multi-disciplinary staff to provide and support evidence-based education, quality improvement and research. They participate in professional and organizational activities that contribute to improving patient care, the scientific knowledge base of advanced practice, program operation, and individual professional development. The APP provides leadership within their respective clinical area through participation in division projects and mentorship of others. They contribute to department and organization wide initiatives, representing advanced practice and promoting the role of the advanced practice provider. Physician Assistant Master’s or Doctoral degree of Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required. Clinical Nurse Specialist Master’s or Doctorate degree in the clinical specialty area in which they practice from an accredited program and eligibility for medical staff credentialing required. Identifies significant changes in patient status using physical exam, lab values, diagnostic tests, and patient/family input. Differentiates between normal and abnormal findings. Performs procedures as needed after obtaining appropriate credentialing. Participates in and/ or leads multidisciplinary patient care. Is a clinical resource for patient, parents and the interdisciplinary team. Appropriately communicates and escalates clinical/administrative issues. Collaborates with nursing, medicine, and other members of the healthcare team to regularly ensure quality patient care. Administrative Serves as a clinical preceptor to NP, CNS or PA students.
