About our program: 

The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time Registered Nurse position that assists you in transitioning from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health. This program provides a collaborative learning environment in which you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop new personal and professional relationships. 

Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities to be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators. We offer all of our New Grads multiple Career Pathways and development opportunities to achieve your long-term career goals. Whether you are wanting to go into a specialty unit, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing opportunities, or any other sector of nursing - we will help you get there! The expectation is that you will stay on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to get a full and comprehensive training experience! New Grads will also need to live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility they are hired into.   

Most new nurses will work three 12-hour shifts, which will include weekend and holiday rotations with other staff members.

About this Unit:

The position is for the 6th floor Medical/Surgical Specialty Unit. We have a 43 bed inpatient medical surgical high acuity unit. We care for medical surgical patients who could be here with a wide range of diagnoses: wounds, hospice, post-op gynecological or urological surgeries, peritoneal dialysis patients, infections, oncology patients, cardiac/telemetry patients, the list is expansive. All of our new graduate nurses will complete Med/Surg Academy, Progressive Care Academy, and Oncology Academy with many more learning opportunities available. Nursing to patient ratio, depends on acuity, and could be 5-6 patients. The RN is responsible for all care and has oversight to delegate tasks to PCAs and LPNs on shift when able. Ratio: 1:5-6 based on patient acuity. 

Benefits/Compensation: 

This is a Full Time Night Shift, benefitted, and paid position. Enjoy a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable. POSITION SUMMARY
This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.

4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members. Evaluates patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.

5. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Documentation reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions and patient's response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.

6. Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts and participates in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families and visitors. Promotes/supports growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.

7. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care. Actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes. Such activities may include participating in professional organizations.

8. In some roles, this position may supervise staff and work flow of the department.

The Women and Infants Services Department at Banner Ironwood Medical Center focused on providing family centered care. This is an all in one department specialized for a family-centered healing environment. Level II facility with 24-hour coverage provided by Obstetricians, Certified Nurse Midwives, Neonatologists, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners; in addition to 24 hour in-house coverage by Anesthesia. There is a Certified Lactation Consultant to help support breastfeeding along with the observation of the “Golden Hour” at birth where baby is skin to skin with mom for bonding. This unit serves low to moderate risk patients with private rooms, Labor, delivery, and recovery for vaginal deliveries all in the same LDR room. We assist with approximately 90 deliveries per month. Our location also has two OR suites for scheduled and unscheduled cesarean sections as well as additional operative procedures in the immediate postpartum period. We have 8 LDR rooms, each with a special area just for the family support, 2 OR suites, 2 bed PACU, 4 bed triage unit, 6 bed Special Care Nursery, and 23 Postpartum rooms. *Prior RN Postpartum experience is preferred but not required for this position* As a Postpartum RN at Banner Ironwood Women and Infant Services , you will have the opportunity to be part of the special experience of having a baby for many families of the Queen Creek and surrounding communities.
