Join an STS 3-Star rated cardiothoracic surgery program at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. The Lead Nurse Practitioner is a unique opportunity for an experienced NP to combine clinical practice with leadership, helping to advance quality, operations, and professional development within a growing cardiac surgery program.

Working closely with physician and administrative leadership, the Lead NP will oversee the Cardiothoracic Surgery NP team while supporting patient care across the CTICU and Stepdown units. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who is passionate about mentoring others, driving clinical excellence, and helping shape the future of the program.

This position combines clinical and leadership responsibilities within the Cardiothoracic Surgery service. Clinical assignments will primarily support day shift operations, with some evening, night, weekend, and holiday coverage based on departmental needs.

Preferred Criteria

Prior leadership, charge, or supervisory experience
Experience mentoring, onboarding, or precepting Nurse Practitioners
Experience in quality improvement, program development, or educational initiatives
Didactic or teaching experience

Required Criteria

Master’s Degree in Nursing
New York State Registered Nurse License and Adult, Acute Care or Family Nurse Practitioner License
Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
Minimum three years of NP experience in a Cardiothoracic ICU, Cardiac Surgery, Critical Care, or related specialty

Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology - Brooklyn Medical Group Clinical Patient Care : Provide comprehensive outpatient cardiology care in collaboration with a board-certified cardiologists. Perform history and physical exams, manage chronic cardiovascular conditions (e.g., hypertension, heart failure, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation), order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans. Adjust medications, provide patient education, and coordinate follow-up care. Document thoroughly in the electronic medical record. Nuclear Stress Lab Duties : Prepare patients for nuclear stress testing (exercise and pharmacologic). Explain procedures clearly and compassionately to patients, addressing questions and concerns. Administer and monitor pharmacologic stress agents (e.g., regadenoson, Adenosine) . Supervise and assist with patient monitoring during stress testing, including IV placement, vital signs, and ECG monitoring. Work closely with the attending cardiologist, nuclear medicine technologists, and nursing staff to ensure safe and efficient test completion. Assist with preliminary reporting and quality assurance as needed. This is a full time position located in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. The schedule is Mon/Wed/Fri 9:00AM-5:00PM and Tues/Thurs 10:00AM – 7:00PM. One Saturday a month required. Preferred Criteria Prior experience working in an outpatient cardiology practice or stress lab. Comfort with IV starts and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Strong communication skills and ability to educate patients effectively.
