Responsibilities

We are actively hiring for a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). 

 

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Responsibilities: 

  • Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures.
  • Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination areas.  
  • Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or other invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent. 
  • Graduate of a recognized and accredited Surgical Technologist Program.   
  • Prior Experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.   
  • Current Surgical Technologist certification preferred.   
  • Successful completion of BLS Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS certification.

As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. About our OR at Ridges: Our 150-bed community-based hospital currently has 11 OR Rooms, averaging over 7,500 cases a year. Our OR specializes in areas including: Spine, Ortho, OB-GYN, General, ENT, Plastic, Urology, and Da Vinci. Our call response time is 30 minutes and it is a weekend Increased flexibility! Limited Call schedule (1 out of 6 weekends) As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for: Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens. Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. Modifying clinical interventions based on population served. Under the general supervision of the Manager of Perioperative Services, and the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for filling the surgical scrub role on all types of minor and major surgical procedures dependent on individual competencies in each surgical specialty. Assists physicians and nurses in various medical and technical procedures. These functions must be in compliance with the philosophy of the hospital, standards of practice and regulations of governing agencies.
