MedStar Medical Group is seeking a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the CVICU team at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Practice within MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, a nationally recognized destination for cardiovascular surgery and a key hospital within the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute, caring for critically ill patients recovering from complex cardiovascular procedures such as open-heart surgeries, catheter-based valve replacements, vascular interventions, and thoracic surgeries.

 

You'll work with cutting-edge technology in a collaborative, well-supported multidisciplinary environment that offers meaningful autonomy.

 

Flexible full-time schedule option with a traditional day/night rotating schedule or dedicated nocturnist schedule. Dedicated Nocturnists receive a generous nocturnist adjustment to either their base salary or annual clinical target. 

 

Position Highlights

  • Practice within an 8-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
  • Care for critically ill patients following complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures
  • Perform comprehensive critical care assessments and patient management
  • Perform advanced ICU procedures, including airway management, vascular access, and bedside interventions
  • Collaborative team of 10 APPs and 6 physicians
  • Practice with a high degree of autonomy utilizing cutting-edge technology

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited AGACNP or PA program
  • Current BLS and ACLS
  • Board certified or board eligible
  • Maryland licensure (or eligibility)
  • Minimum of one year of Advanced Practice Provider experience in a Critical Care ICU setting required.
  • New graduates are not eligible for this position

Offer Based on Years of Experience What You Need to Know Be the Best Hospice Nurse Practitioner You Can Be If you meet these qualifications, we would love to meet you: Graduated from an approved school of professional nursing - Masters degree Current and unecumbered advanced practice nurse license in the state(s) practicing One year of experience as an NP Certified by a nationally recognized advanced nurse practice organization Possess and maintain valid CPR certification while employed in a clinical role (preferred) Must be a licensed driver who can travel to all business locations Meet the regulations and requirements of the state(s) in which the program provides services Responsibilities: As a Hospice Nurse Practitioner, you will: Initiate communication with attending physicians, other hospice staff members and other agencies as needed to coordinate optimal care and use of resources for the patient/family Monitor patient progress; update the Team Director and team members; consult regarding discharge planning and patient/family teaching Maintain continuity of care in coordinating with the care team and case manager for patients with ongoing needs Prescribe medication as permitted by the state and/or the state Board of Nursing Pre-Hospice Face-to-face clinical and needs assesment at intake, preferably in the patient's home setting, inclusive of patient's medical, emotional, spiritual, social, and practical needs Face-to-face reasssessment done when needed and at least every 60 days.
