Interim Director of Nursing RN

Nu Roc Health and Rehabilitation Center
Laona, Wisconsin 54541

Nu Roc Health and Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse leader to serve as our Interim Director of Nursing.

This is an opportunity to provide strong, steady clinical leadership during an important period for our skilled nursing facility. We are looking for an accomplished Director of Nursing who can quickly understand the needs of the facility, establish clear priorities, engage the nursing team, and create positive momentum.

Nu Roc provides skilled nursing, short term rehabilitation, and long term care in Laona, Wisconsin. Our facility was recognized as a 2026 AHCA/NCAL Bronze National Quality Award recipient, reflecting the dedication of our employees and our commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

As Interim Director of Nursing, you will be trusted to lead, make decisions, strengthen clinical systems, and develop the nursing team. You will work closely with the Nursing Home Administrator, facility leadership, and Champion Care’s clinical and operational leaders.

This position begins as an interim leadership assignment supporting Nu Roc. Following a successful assignment, candidates who enjoy travel, variety, and leading through transition may also have the opportunity to discuss moving into an internal Float Director of Nursing role with Champion Care. Any future transition would be based on mutual interest and organizational needs.

What You Will Lead

  • Serve as the Interim Director of Nursing at Nu Roc Health and Rehabilitation Center

  • Assess nursing operations and establish immediate and long term priorities

  • Provide leadership, direction, and structure to the nursing department

  • Build trust, strengthen communication, and improve employee engagement

  • Coach and develop nursing leaders and frontline nursing employees

  • Support nursing staffing, scheduling, retention, and accountability

  • Strengthen clinical systems and quality outcomes

  • Oversee infection prevention, quality assurance, and performance improvement

  • Ensure compliance with Wisconsin and federal skilled nursing regulations

  • Support survey preparation, regulatory readiness, and plans of correction

  • Partner with the Nursing Home Administrator and Champion Care leadership

  • Promote compassionate, resident centered care

  • Build a positive workplace culture grounded in teamwork and respect

What You Bring

  • Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse license

  • Previous Director of Nursing or Director of Nursing Services experience

  • Nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility, nursing home, or long term care setting

  • Strong knowledge of Wisconsin and federal healthcare regulations

  • Experience with clinical compliance, survey readiness, and quality improvement

  • Proven ability to guide nursing teams through change and transition

  • Strong employee engagement, coaching, and team development skills

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem solving abilities

  • Confidence to assess facility needs, make decisions, and inspire action

Why This Opportunity?

This is more than an interim assignment. It is an opportunity to lead a dedicated nursing team, build upon Nu Roc’s commitment to quality, and make an immediate and visible difference.

For the right nursing leader, it may also open the door to a broader leadership future within the organization.

If you are an experienced Director of Nursing who can bring people together, strengthen clinical operations, and provide confident leadership when it matters most, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
