
Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Services

Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Supervisor provides operational and clinical supervision for a work area or unit. Responsible for front-line supervision of staff while on the unit. Collaborates with the Manager to implement plans addressing performance improvement, quality improvement, advancement of care delivery, and customer/staff satisfaction. Serves as a work area leader and develops systems to ensure efficient workflow and collaborative relationships with physicians and other members of the interprofessional team. Maintains open communication with manager regarding patients, family, personnel and departmental issues.
The Emergency Department is a 46-bed tertiary care facility with an annual volume of nearly 100,000 visits, a dedicated fast track area and two trauma bays. The patient population ranges from neonates to adolescents, and a large number of these patients have high acuity and complex medical conditions.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience in pediatrics preferred. Expert clinical knowledge of unit’s patient population. Ability to lead others. Good organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both verbally and in writing.
Education/Licensure/Certification: Baccalaureate degree and California licensure in respective discipline required. For nursing: California RN License, Current American Heart Association BLS and PALS Card. National Certification Required.
Schedule: 4 shifts per week / 10hr shifts. Work hours and work days will vary plus variable weekend on call requirements.
