Position Summary

The Medical Assistant supports urgent care providers with clinical and administrative tasks, including patient intake, vitals, testing, procedures, room preparation, and EMR documentation. This role delivers a high‑quality, customer‑focused experience in a fast‑paced care setting.

Essential Functions

  • Register patients, verify insurance, and collect co-pays
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate specialist referrals
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide care status updates
  • Communicate patient flow and assist with patient preparation
  • Record medical history and obtain vital signs
  • Perform point-of-care testing (flu, strep, ECG)
  • Perform phlebotomy and administer injections
  • Prepare, clean, and restock exam rooms
  • Update EMR and scan documents
  • Answer phones and manage general administrative tasks
  • Conduct patient follow-up and maintain reception area
  • Complete opening and closing procedures, including cash-out
  • Conduct daily equipment checks and submit repair tickets
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma required
  • Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire (AHA or ARC)

Certification Requirements

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday. Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills. Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids. Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
