The Fall 2026 Transitional RN Residency for experienced RNs is now accepting applications. If offered, the program will start on November 16,  2026. This position is for experienced RN's wanting to go into a Step Down Residency Training Program with a minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an acute care hospital setting.  

 

Applications must be completed and submitted via the Internet only. Program availability is subject to change and will only run based on organizational needs.  Register your interest in the event that an Step Down Residency takes place. Placement, interview, and location preferences are not guaranteed. 

 

The Registered Nurse is a licensed professional able to demonstrate the following core competencies:  assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership and service.  This course is designed to provide nurses with theoretical knowledge needed to provide holistic family-centered care to patients and family members and is targeted toward registered nurses who are new to high acuity care nursing.

Estimated pay range for this position is $35.60 - $49.49/ hour depending on experience. 

Qualifications:


Qualified candidates interested in the Step Down Residency must:

 

  • Have a Current FL RN License
  • Have a current BLS for Healthcare Provider card valid until 6/2027 or later. 
  • Have 1 year of current RN experience in a hospital setting (required)  
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. All Associate Degree nurses accepted into the program must agree to achieve their BSN degree within 3 years of start date.

Qualifications Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Authorized by the Alabama Board of Nursing (BON) to practice as a graduate nurse and has received a “Graduate Nurse” letter Authorized to take the NCLEX by the examination vendor Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Baptist Health and the unit/department. Must obtain Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate RN license within three (3) months of placement in this job. Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP is required for the Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU).
