Responsibilities

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) is responsible for providing appropriate nursing care, as directed by an RN on the nursing unit. Functions include gathering and reporting data, carrying out orders, and performing therapeutic procedures on patients in an age and population-appropriate manner, consistent with the policies, procedures, and guidelines of PAM Health. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Education and Training: Holds current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) in the state where the hospital resides, or compact licensure if state participates. Current BLS certification required. BLS certification must be AHA approved within 90 days of employment.

 

  • Current IV Certification within 90 days of employment, if required per state  regulations.

 

Experience: One year of inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience preferred but not required

Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Must be able to transfer resident and assist in emergency evaluations. Interacts with resident, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances. Must be able to relate and work with the disabled, ill, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people within the facility. May be involved in community/civic health matters/ projects. May be exposed to infectious waste, disease, conditions, etc., including exposure to the AIDS and hepatitis B Viruses. Must be able to effectively communicate with management staff, medical staff, nursing staff, and other unit supervisors,.
