Description

The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Supervisor to coordinate the Minimum Data Set (MDS) program and oversee nursing staff within our long-term care facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring high-quality care for our veteran residents while maintaining compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and CMS regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise nursing staff involved in the MDS process and coordinate staff schedules to ensure program coverage.
Serve as a preceptor for newly hired staff and provide ongoing education and training related to MDS and skilled care documentation.
Track Medicare beneficiary benefit periods and validate eligibility for Medicare Part A skilled services.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to determine skilled medical necessity for residents.
Review and audit MDS assessments, resident care plans, and clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance.
Provide training and guidance to nursing staff regarding documentation standards and skilled care requirements.
Coordinate with finance staff to ensure billing accuracy and alignment with diagnoses and medical documentation.
Communicate with CMS and managed care organizations to support authorization and continuation of benefits.
Maintain the Prospective Payment System (PPS) schedule for residents utilizing Medicare benefits.
Assist with floor nursing coverage when needed, including medication administration, treatments, and emergency response.
