Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Clinician (NP/PA) is service/physician aligned, managing a distinct patient population. The APC may be required to perform some outpatient and inpatient care and facilitate discharges/outpatient follow up. The APC has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice/education and is responsible for ensuring adherence to clinical pathways/protocols and ensures an environment of safe quality care. The APC demonstrates advanced level of medical and nursing knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgement, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and responsible for professional development and competency validation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assessment of Health Status
Performs and documents in the medical record a complete history and physical examination for acute and complex chronically ill patients
Orders and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
The APC may serve as the first responder for both nursing and staff in the event of patient status changes, orders, and in situations requiring procedural and resuscitative interventions.
Assesses for risks associated with the care of the acute and complex chronically ill patient including medication side effects, immobility, impaired nutrition, fluid, and electrolyte imbalance, immunocompetence, invasive interventions and diagnostic procedures.
Coordinates daily clinic schedule with the attending physician team, presents patient report, collaborates in plan of care, and follows assigned patient population.

Overview Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse-Anesthetist), Ft Campbell, KY Occupying a generous portion of the border between Kentucky and Tennessee, Fort Campbell supports the fourth largest military population in the Army (and the 7th largest in the Department of Defense). The Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 5th Special Forces Group, and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment all call this base home. Provides obstetrical analgesia and surgical anesthesia for operative deliveries and complications. Demonstrates competency in the following clinical areas: pre-anesthesia preparation; anesthesia induction, maintenance, and emergence; conscious sedation; pain management; post anesthesia care; peri-anesthetic and clinical support functions; emergency airway management, Code Blue member, Code Purple Team member (post-partum hemorrhage). 3. Assumes full responsibility for all techniques, drugs, and equipment used in the administration of anesthesia. Monitors patients' fluid loss, determines need for parenteral fluids, including plasma and blood, sets up solutions and maintains proper flow. Adjusts the administration of anesthetic agents as well as other drugs, including stimulants, to support respiratory and circulatory functions of patients. Reviews clinical chart and recommends specific type of anesthesia; general, regional, local, and IV sedation. The Vanderbilt Pediatric Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery team works closely with additional experts at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, spearheading multidisciplinary care in programs like the Complex Aerodigestive Evaluation Team (CADET) , and the Velopharyngeal Insufficiency Program (VPI) . The Vanderbilt Pediatric Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery team also has experience in treating conditions like cleft lip, cleft palate, vascular anomalies, and refractory obstructive sleep apnea. We offer clinics at the main Monroe Carell hospital and our locations in Murfreesboro and Spring Hill , where we see more than 25,000 outpatient visitors and perform more than 6,000 surgeries each year.
