Texas Oncology is looking for a Clinic Registered Nurse (RN)to join our team! This full time position will support the Round Rock location (2410 Round Rock Ave #150 Round Rock, Texas 78681). This is a full-time Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.  

 

This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

What does the Registered Nurse (RN) do? 

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Must recognize physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of care and participates in company-wide quality initiatives. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. 


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.  
    • Assesses health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history. 
    • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.   
    • Provides psychosocial support to patients and families. 
  • Facilitates clinical operations and patient care 
    • Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart. 
    • Facilitates and schedules consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients. 
    • Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart. 
    • As necessary, facilitates communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinates services related to patient care. 
    • Assist patients in locating available community resources. 
  • Inter professional collaboration 
    • Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants. 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience: 

Level 1:

  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Level 2 (in addition to level 1 requirements):

  • 3-5 years nursing experience.
  • Oncology certification preferred.

Level Sr (in addition to level 1 and 2 requirements):

  • Five years nursing experience.

Registered Nurse

Overview: In collaboration with patients, families (as defined by the patient) and staff across all disciplines and departments is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the clinical support staff assigned to a unit in a community healthcare center. Responsibilities: Essential Duties: Performs Charge Nurse Duties in absence of Charge Nurse. Oversee assigned staff, including but not limited to, establishing work assignments and oversee flow of unit along with identifying staffing needs. Input for performance evaluations and serve as a support lead to the charge nurse. Helps identifies and participates in process improvement strategies Assist Charge Nurse in Care Coordination and Population Health as needed. Provide coaching/mentor of Staff Development of nurse and clinical team. Supporters nurses and clinical team to improve clinical skills and knowledge. Assess the physical, social and emotional needs of patients and families in clinics. Teach and counsel patients and families concerning health assessment and care including prevention of disease, disability, hygiene, and health maintenance. Participate in the identification of patient needs for referral to resources that facilitate the continuity of care in conjunction with care management team. Provide direct nursing care to patients and distribute medications and treatments according to accepted standards of care. Complete all direct and indirect care documentation in timely manner and ensure patient records are current and complete. Participates in daily patient care (unit) huddles, in some case ensuring that huddles are taking place along with weekly clinic staff informational huddles. Maintains all licensure and/or certification requirements for continuing education and best practices. Identifies, in collaboration with Charge Nurse, supports and participates in quality strategies in collaboration from Charge Nurse to evaluate compliance with evidence-based guidelines, standards, and to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes. Ensure all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards including The Joint Commission and CommUnityCare Standard Operating Procedures and CommUnityCare Policies and Procedures. Act as the site lead in the absence of the Nurse Manager Operations and/or Practice Leader. Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Graduate from accredited school of nursing. Demonstrate success in providing clinical care and nursing support within an organization of comparable pace and complexity. Experience managing difficult patient/customer situations. Collaborates with clinical staff in order to achieve a common goals. Knowledge of medical practices and procedures in a healthcare environment. Demonstrate success and experience with direct patient services and the proper knowledge and use of medical devices and equipment. Familiarity with tools, technology, and systems typically found within most health care environments (i.e. Microsoft Office, EMR systems, etc.) for data entry and retrieval. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Prefer at least of at least 2 year of experience as nurse. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas. Current healthcare provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card obtained through approved American Heart Association or American Red Cross PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: AAACN Certification
