Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist at HCA Healthcare, you’ll be a vital part of a highly-skilled team that shares in your passion for cardiac surgery. Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing and organizing the surgical suite with the right instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure safe, efficient procedures
Supporting patients with transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while protecting their comfort, privacy, and safety
Scrubbing in and assisting the surgeon by providing instruments, handling specimens, and anticipating the needs of the team
Monitoring equipment and patient status throughout procedures, taking quick, effective action when needed
Maintaining a sterile field, ensuring thorough room turnover, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture

What qualifications you will need:

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Vocational School Graduate

You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures. The OR Tech II has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. When the OR Tech II is in the second scrub role, they assist the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors and manipulating the endoscopic camera. This role is distinct from that of the first scrub and surgical first assistant. What Qualifications You Will Need: ON CALL First Scrub tech - must be able to scrub independently, without backups. NIGHTS 7pm-7am . Guaranteed 40 hours. Graduate of an accredited school of Certified Operating Room Technicians (CORT) Experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center preferred 3-5+ years of experience minimum Hospital experience preferred Requires more experience than Ambulatory or OB Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.
