Unit Bio

Join our 4-bed Special Care Unit, a high-acuity critical care environment within a close-knit community hospital. This role offers the opportunity to care for patients requiring intensive therapies and interventions, including ventilator management, sepsis, acute and chronic respiratory failure, metabolic disorders, post-surgical recovery, and advanced cardiac monitoring.

While nurses in this setting often practice with a high level of autonomy, they are supported by a collaborative care team that includes CNAs and interdisciplinary partners. The unit fosters a culture of learning and professional growth, with a focus on building critical thinking skills and clinical expertise in a fast-paced environment where adaptability and strong clinical judgment are essential.

The Registered Nurse - Acute Care role provides high quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Collaborates, delegates, and communicates with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal care.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Other certifications may be required specific to area of practice or in accordance with Department guidelines.
  • Experience: One year of recent RN experience required. Automatic advancement from RN I level if all onboarding requirements are complete, including the New Grad Residency (where available).

How you make a difference As a Registered Nurse (RN), your primary responsibility is to provide patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will work under the supervision of Charge Nurse(s) to provide patient education and activities in accordance with your competencies and education. This role requires excellent communication and critical thinking skills to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Assist in assessing and planning individual treatment programs, consulting with Charge Nurse(s) and other staff as necessary. Implement medical plans by administering medications, obtaining diagnostic tests, and assisting with medical or minor surgical procedures as needed. Count controlled substances and implement clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols. Document nursing encounters using the SOAP form of charting as required by policy and attend mandatory staff meetings and training. Communicate information to nursing staff, physician, health care unit supervisory personnel or other staff as necessary.
