Baystate Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Heart Vascular/Surgical Trauma ICU at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Massachusetts. The Heart and Vascular Critical Care Unit provides a full array of services for the critically ill cardiac patient to include care of the post or evolving MI, immediate and post cardiac surgery care, immediate cardiac interventional care, therapeutic hypothermia for post cardiac arrests, titratable vasoactive infusions, hemodynamic monitoring requiring the use of specialized critical care equipment, and mechanical ventilation support. Surgical ICU is equipped with advanced hemodynamic monitoring and state-of-the art continuous renal replacement technology.


The Registered Nurse role offers the opportunity for meaningful impact while supporting patients, serving the community and collaborating with a specialized team.


The Registered Nurse Will: 

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide expected standards of care based on physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational spiritual, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of patients.
  • Assumes responsibility for the patient's plan of care and is held accountable for decisions specific to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the plan of care.
  • Provides care directly to patients and in collaboration with other healthcare team members.
  • Maintains a current level of knowledge and skill with technical procedures as defined by the nursing specialty organization, complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies, and is currently licensed in the state of Massachusetts as a registered nurse.

Required Qualifications

  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
