Nursing Assistant II – Inpatient Rehab (Days)


Position Summary

Orlando Health Advanced Rehabilitation Institute offers comprehensive CARF-accredited inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs for adults, adolescents and children, with specialty programs in stroke, spinal cord and brain injury rehabilitation. A dedicated 54-bed rehabilitation hospital provides post-acute care for patients requiring medical and intensive rehabilitative therapies covering a full range of orthopedic and neurological conditions. The facility has all-private rooms, three therapy gyms outfitted with the latest technology (e.g., weight-assisted treadmill, robotics for training in arm/hand coordination and walking, and communication-assistance technology), a simulated apartment, and an expansive outdoor space for additional therapeutic activity. Outpatient centers feature interdisciplinary teams working together to help each patient meet their individual rehabilitation goals and achieve the highest possible level of independence.

 

A Day in YOUR Life as a Nursing Assistant

The Nursing Assistant II provides hands‑on patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN). This team member supports daily patient needs, ensures a safe and healing environment, and plays a vital role in the rehab care experience.

Schedule: Days (FT/PT)

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs
  • Provide routine treatments and help maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment
  • Support patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Take and record vital signs, intake/output, and other assigned measurements
  • Accurately document patient information per Orlando Health policies
  • Communicate changes or concerns to the RN or care team
  • Participate in handoff reports and purposeful hourly rounding
  • Deliver exceptional service to patients, families, and team members
  • Maintain patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality at all times
  • Transport equipment, specimens, medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemo), and supplies as needed
  • Answer patient call lights, phones, and guest requests promptly
  • Demonstrate competency in unit‑specific skills and tasks

Required Qualifications

  • Education/Training
    • High school diploma or equivalent AND at least one year of nursing assistant experience within the past five years
      OR
    •  Completion of a Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant program
    • State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
    • State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
    • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
    • Medical Corpsman, EMT, paramedic, or licensed medical personnel outside the U.S.
  • Licensure/Certification
    • Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification (required)
  • Experience
    • No prior experience required

Responsibilities of Activities Aide (CNA) Assist in the development, organization, and implementation of a program of activities to meet the social, emotional, physical and other therapeutic needs of residents as identified on the resident’s plan of care and within the specified budget. Coordinate and verify that assistance is provided to residents for activities and events as necessary. Provide in room activities for residents who are unable to attend daily events. Consistently maintain standards for activity scheduling and documentation established by policies and regulatory requirements.
