Our Internal Medicine Residency Clinic is a collaborative and patient-focused environment dedicated to delivering exceptional care while supporting the education and development of future physicians. Our team consists of 25 Internal Medicine residents, five experienced faculty physicians, two Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and two Medical Office Assistants, all working together to provide high-quality care to our patients.

 

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with another LPN, sharing responsibilities, supporting one another, and providing coverage during vacations and other time away from the clinic. You will also collaborate daily with our front desk Medical Office Assistants to ensure patients receive timely, coordinated, and compassionate care.

This is a Monday through Friday daylight position, with typical hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. While the schedule is generally consistent, there may be occasional days that extend beyond 4:00 p.m. to ensure all patients receive the care they need before the clinic closes.

How you'll contribute 

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:

 

  • Assists medical staff in carrying out plans for care of patients.
  • Determines nursing care needs of the patient.
  • Develops implements and updates nursing care plans in an outpatient setting.
  • Coordinates and orients new nursing personnel with regards to office set-up, requirements, associated activities and procedures.
  • Coordinates special activities with the hospital i.e. direct admissions from the office or any other unique requirements. 
  • Handles patient telephone inquiries.  Telephones prescription order to pharmacy, as needed. 
  • Enters complete and accurate information into an electronic medical record.  Transcribes lab and other medical data into the EMR, as needed.
  • Performs phlebotomy and on-site laboratory tests. Performs laboratory maintenance. 
  • Performs special tests, i.e. audiometry, eye tests, pulmonary functions and EKG's 
  • Inventory and order medical supplies, as needed.
  • Orients Medical Students and Residents to office protocol and procedures. 
  • Trains new staff
  • Pre-visit planning 
  • Assist  practice manger in holding the daily huddles
  • Self management
  • Tracks all orders, labs, and referrals for the patient
  • Administer CPR
