Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting licensed nursing personnel in the provision of nursing care. Participates as a member of the health care team under the direction of a licensed nurse as defined by Standards and Authorized Duties for Certified Nursing Assistants (OAR 851-045-0060(4)) or Nursing Assistants (WAC 246-841-400, 405).  Also assists with clerical functions, housekeeping, and patient transportation throughout the hospital.

Qualifications

Skills/Abilities:

Basic familiarity with computers preferred.

Licensure

Oregon:  Current CNA certificate required.

 

Washington:  Current CNA certificate or NAR license (Nursing Assistant Registered) required. An NAR-licensed CHT has 120 days to obtain the CNA certificate.

*If performing phlebotomy tasks (capillary or venous blood draws), those who perform this job in the State of Washington must be a Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist.

 

AHA BLS for Health Care Provider required.

Pay Range

USD $22.32 - USD $31.90 /Hr.

Overview Serving as a Home Health Aide CNA for hospice patients requires a uniquely compassionate person—someone who can manage daily care needs while providing a sense of comfort, stability, and normalcy within the patient’s home. Practically, this role means working as part of the Hospice Interdisciplinary Group under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. Demonstrates awareness and reinforces priorities in the plan of care. Encourages self-care and independence as appropriate. Identifies normal and abnormal mental function and demonstrates skills for addressing the needs and behaviors of the cognitively impaired. Cares for and maintains client’s environment by avoiding environmental hazards, using restraints properly, and consistently using infection control procedures and barriers. Recognizes abnormal signs and symptoms of common disease conditions and communicates accurately and with timeliness. Provides and maintains basic nutrition and oral fluid intake. Recognizes emergencies and responds demonstrating knowledge of emergency procedures. Completes documentation according to guidelines.
