Position Overview

Aspire Senior Living Warsaw is seeking a dependable and compassionate Certified Medication Technician (CMT) to join our nursing team.

The CMT is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely administration of medications to residents under the supervision of licensed nursing staff and in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and applicable regulations.

This role is about more than passing medications. Our CMTs are an important part of the resident care team, providing compassionate support, recognizing changes or concerns, communicating with nursing staff, and helping our residents feel comfortable, respected, and cared for.

What You'll Do

Medication Administration

  • Administer medications to residents according to physician orders, Medication Administration Records (MARs), facility policies, and applicable regulations.

  • Follow established medication administration procedures, including verification of the correct resident, medication, dosage, route, and time.

  • Accurately document medications administered, refused, omitted, or otherwise not given as ordered.

  • Utilize medication carts, medication records, and other medication-administration tools safely and appropriately.

  • Follow established procedures regarding PRN medications within the CMT scope of practice.

Resident Care & Communication

  • Provide compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered care during medication administration.

  • Observe residents for changes in condition, medication reactions, or other concerns and promptly communicate findings to the licensed nurse.

  • Assist residents with medication-related needs within the CMT scope of practice.

  • Provide reminders, encouragement, and appropriate support to residents while respecting their dignity, independence, and preferences.

  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, providers, pharmacy personnel, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Documentation & Medication Management

  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medication documentation.

  • Review medication information and communicate questions, discrepancies, or changes to licensed nursing staff.

  • Follow procedures for medication orders, pharmacy deliveries, discontinued medications, and medication changes.

  • Immediately report medication errors, missing medications, refusals, adverse reactions, or other concerns to the appropriate licensed nurse.

  • Maintain resident confidentiality and follow applicable privacy requirements.

Medication Storage & Inventory

  • Maintain clean, secure, and organized medication carts and medication storage areas.

  • Monitor medication supplies and notify nursing staff or pharmacy personnel of shortages or discrepancies.

  • Assist with medication inventory and recordkeeping as required.

  • Follow appropriate procedures regarding medication storage, security, refrigeration, and expiration dates.

Safety, Infection Prevention & Quality

  • Follow medication safety procedures and infection prevention practices.

  • Maintain compliance with facility policies and applicable state and federal requirements.

  • Participate in required CMT education, competency evaluations, and training.

  • Support quality-improvement and medication-safety initiatives.

  • Report resident concerns or changes in condition promptly to licensed nursing staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned and within the CMT's authorized scope of practice.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Current Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification in the state of employment required.

  • Completion of an approved CMT training program as required by the state.

  • Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, senior living, or another healthcare setting preferred.

  • Knowledge of medication administration practices and medication safety.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Compassionate and respectful approach to caring for older adults.

: Position Summary Medication Technicians are an essential part of our wellness team by administering medications to residents in a safe, accurate, and timely manner under the supervision of a licensed nurse and general direction of the Wellness Director. Hiring for day shift and night shift. Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare and administer medications as allowed by state regulation to residents following established policies and procedures. Accurately complete required documentation of medication administration at time-of-service delivery. Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, route, and time of administration on specified forms or records.
