Sharp Chula Vista’s ICU is the largest in the South Bay. Designed as a healing environment with ocean or mountain views from each private patient room as well as a family reflection garden, a soothing color scheme and original artwork to promote reflection and healing, the high acuity 28 bed MICU along with the 10 bed SICU provide comprehensive cardiac and intensive care services. The intensive care units of Sharp Chula Vista provide care for a variety of patient populations, including cardiovascular surgery, IABP, neurosurgery, ICP, stroke, sepsis and shock, multi-system organ failure, renal failure/CRRT, respiratory failure with ventilator management, cardiac emergencies and STEMI/ interventional cardiology. Our ICU nurses participate in the code blue and rapid response teams. We strive to deliver compassionate, patient and family-centered care using evidence-based practices and state-of-the-art techniques.


What You Will Do
To provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of nursing school.
  • 1 Year clinical experience (RNs with less than 12 months experience will complete the new grad requirements).

The Nurse Supervisor provides support and care to the clients and maintains professional standards of care, following the ANA Code of Ethics. Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Nurse Supervisor is responsible for immediate supervision of a wide variety of clinic and infusion functions at the Hillcrest campus, planning and performing direct and indirect nursing interventions, and is responsible for supervising, organizing, planning, assessing and monitoring the medical services provided by UC San Diego Health. The Nurse Supervisor works in conjunction with physicians, nursing leadership, nurses, and other healthcare providers to assure that patients are receiving the best medical, nursing, and psychosocial care possible. The Nurse Supervisor assists in administrative efficiencies through the medical service areas and has frequent independent judgment in monitoring the day-to-day operation of the units with minimal administrative assistance/supervision. While work hours and location may vary due to business needs, the RN Nurse Supervisor can expect a 4/10 work schedule. (Four 10-hour days, with three days off each week.) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience. Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a patient care unit. Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy provider card or must obtain within six (6) months of hire.
