Outpatient Infusion Nurse – Stoler Pavilion (UMMC)

This position is based at the Stoler Pavilion at UMMC. The clinic operates 7 days a week, with hours from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Full-time employees work four 10-hour shifts per week.

As an Outpatient Infusion Nurse, you will be responsible for administering a wide range of treatments, including:

  • Chemotherapy
  • Immunotherapy
  • Blood products
  • Electrolyte replacements
  • Hormonal therapies
  • Other infusion treatments and supportive care for patients with hematologic and solid tumor malignancies

This role involves close monitoring of patients, managing side effects, patient education, and providing compassionate care to individuals undergoing cancer and related treatments.

Work Experience

General Summary

  • This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses at UMMC who have greater than 12 months experience. This nurse will be competent in the skills/knowledge required and fully participate in unit governance. He/she will practice and adhere to the guidelines specified in the UMMC Professional Nurse Job Charter. Independently provides and coordinates care provided to patients within a clinical specialty. Serves as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. Demonstrates and models the full range of nursing professional practice in both care provided and in participation in development of strategies to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction with service and cost effectiveness at the unit level. Is accountable to patients and families for the processes and outcomes of care during an episode of care. Is accountable to peers for the advancement of group practice on the unit, and to the nurse manager for the totality of work performance.

Education And Experience

  • Competent evaluation with successful passing of probation; current on all mandatory classes/training.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.

Job Responsibilities Administering nursing care in ALFs, SNFs, and other post-acute care facilities Working with residents and medical staff to devise care plans Ensuring residents receive the right personalized treatments and medications Explaining best options for care with residents and their family members Consulting with other healthcare professionals, including doctors Setting up medical equipment and monitoring their use Overseeing the compliance with facility policies and nursing standards Documenting and checking the accuracy of interventions and medical histories Performing fluid sample draws for lab work Leading the training and supervision of nursing staff Assisting with incident investigations and checking for accuracy of reporting Qualifications and Skills Current Maryland state license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) Completion of an approved nursing program At least 4 months' experience in either post-acute care or in-patient hospital settings Strong communication and organizational skills Want a Job That Finally Works For You?
