Job Summary and Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

  • Plans for and scrubs assigned surgical procedures in accordance with AORN, AST, quality, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Participates in on-call rotation based on the need of the department.
  • Operates the sterilizer and other patient care equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions after proper training.
  • Promotes hospital processes and goals, and communicates issues, whether actual or potential, to appropriate person in the chain of command.
  • Takes initiative in performing other duties, whether assigned or not, such as assisting with updating surgeon preference cards, pulling case carts, stocking rooms, turning-over the OR, and assisting with scheduled supply inventory.
  • Quality Improvement: Strives for high quality performance and takes initiative to make improvements and deliver results.
  • Personal Achievement: Sets and achieves personal goals to advance career-related skills, knowledge and abilities and helps others to improve their skills.
  • Teamwork: Builds effective relationships across work groups by treating fellow employees with courtesy, respect and inclusiveness; maintains a positive attitude and takes responsibility for assignments. What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of a Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologist role is required.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology.
  • Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • 1 or more years of Surgical Technologist experience is REQUIRED.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to Clinical Director/Administrator Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 1. Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during set up of surgical procedures. 2. Assists circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment. 3. Transports all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas. Assists in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets. 8. Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background. 9. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. 10. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills. 11. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment. 12. Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team. 13. Attends inservices, conferences, and meetings as required. 14. Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees.
