Job Responsibilities

  • Assisting residents in ALFs, SNFs, and other post-acute facilities
  • Helping residents with mobility, personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, and other activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Monitoring residents throughout the shift and alerting the broader nursing team to any concerns
  • Checking temperature, blood pressure, and other vital signs, and reporting any abnormal events to supervising staff
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment by changing linens and helping to clean residents' rooms, etc.
  • Moving residents to and from wheelchairs, beds, and exam tables
  • Offering companionship and a compassionate, engaged ear to residents and their loved ones
  • Understanding how to communicate with visitors, family members, and staff

Qualifications and Skills

  • Current North Carolina Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • Understanding of nursing care procedures and related medical terminology
  • Effective organization skills and the ability to communicate with medical professionals, residents, and family members
  • A high level of attention to detail

This position will collaborate on campus-wide activity events with the Life Enrichment team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides activities to assigned residents in a long-term care setting. Ensures that all activities are compliant with federal and state regulations and facility policies. Ensures that all activity programming meets the interests and needs of assigned residents and have a therapeutic outcome to both improve residents’ quality of life and their overall functioning. Coordinates all aspects of a therapeutic recreation program for assigned residents, including creating, scheduling, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs designed to meet their therapeutic needs. Determines/Assesses the individual interests and needs of each assigned resident; evaluates; develops/delivers activities designed to meet identified interests and therapeutic needs. Creates and facilitates activities appropriate for different resident groups, different functional abilities, and different interests. Encourages residents to participate in a variety of activities and programs. Estimates time needed for activities and schedules accordingly.
