Experience: At least 1 year prior RN work experience. Meets all requirements of Clinical Nurse I. Completion of Level I usually achieved by 12 months of employment. Critical care, pediatrics, or behavioral health experience preferred. ED experience strongly preferred. Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients’ conditions and to initiate appropriate action. Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action. Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families. Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit. The medical oncology unit is a state of the art 32 bed facility. With acute and Intermediate level care provided. Nursing staff work collaboratively with leadership in a shared governance model. Through this work they have developed and implemented staffing scheduling practices which support 12-hour shifts, and fair and flexible approach to weekends and holidays. The nursing staff have also worked to create a work environment which values excellence, teamwork and peer support. Summary The Certified Nursing Assistant – Acute Care role assists in the administration of nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect care duties. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs) Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Certified Nursing Assistant required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. Experience: CNA experience 0-6 months. On-the-job training provided.
