By joining the GI team as a RN, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide important medical information as needed. You will also provide critical onboarding, mentoring and competency support for new clinical caregivers as a Nightingale, strengthening overall team performance. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying days from 8:00AM – 4:30PM. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Assess health status by completing a nursing assessment. Perform telephone triage. Notify physicians/LIPs of abnormal findings. Establish a care plan in collaboration with the patient, family and health care team. Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care. Assist with specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physician/LIP and monitor patients for response. Initiate CPR and other emergency measures. Cover other nursing roles within the department. Develop, evaluate, adapt and document education to learning needs. Provide health education to patients and families. Participate in quality initiatives, process improvements and research activities to improve patient outcomes, patient experience and patient safety. Maintain professional growth and development in the nursing field and identify annual core competencies.
