Documents all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication prescribed, etc., in the medical record. Communicates with patients regarding provider advice/instructions within scope of training. Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines, and confidentiality policies. Phones in prescriptions to pharmacies based upon provider’s written orders. Provides results and other information to patients as specifically directed by provider. Assists patient with the scheduling of future appointments, surgeries, and/or diagnostic testing, as necessary. The Level II MWHC nurse demonstrates the ability to collaborate with the healthcare team to improve the quality of care in the designated clinical area by incorporating research and implementing evidenced-based knowledge into practice. The Level II Competent Registered Nurse assumes the accountability and responsibility as a professional nurse for providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care for an assigned group of patients. The NP is actively involved in providing comprehensive care and education and participates in the review and development of specific policies, procedures, and practice guidelines. The incumbent in this position must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and an understanding of the interdependent roles of various allied health professions. The NP will assess physical, psychosocial, cognitive, and functional components, develop a treatment plan, order and interpret diagnostic components of the plan, and prescribe non-pharmacological and pharmacological agents. The NP functions professionally under a practice agreement with the supervising physician and operationally under the Mary Washington Medical Group. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: In collaboration with physician, demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients and family members about diagnosis, testing, and risk of procedures. Performs comprehensive health assessments for the purpose of diagnosing and treating individuals. Formulates appropriate treatment plans to include appropriate diagnostics; identifies non-pharmacological interventions, appropriate pharmacological agents and education.
