The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. Demonstrates appropriate population specific techniques with patients. Documents administration of over-the-counter medications and/or other medications in Epic per policy or protocol. Cleans, prepares and stocks exam rooms, treatment rooms, and workstations. Calls patients regarding test results and medical instruction under the direction of a Physician. Calls in medication refills under the direction of a Physician or protocol. Documents patient care information in the outpatient medical record according to standards. Assists with scheduling of patient tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments. Assists in the care, cleaning, and sterilization of equipment and instruments. Maintains the inventory of medical and linen supplies. Maintains quality control for equipment. Provides cross coverage to other clinical areas as assigned.
