The Behavioral Health Clinical Coordinator RN monitors all Nursing staff utilizes the nursing processes in assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating each patient's needs upon admission. 1) Round on Staff/Units a. Staff issues/concerns – resolve or escalate b. Safety assessment: i. Challenging patients present? ii. Evidence of environmental rounding being completed iii. Staff utilization of best practice for interaction iv. Barriers of any kind present? 2) Staffing a. Update the daily assignment sheet as you see appropriate based on staff capability and need (located in Sharepoint – Reports – Running List) b. Evaluate for current and next shift c. Wednesday of each week scrutinizes weekend coverage for needs d. Plan for next 3 days (focus on adjusting, getting coverage) e. Capture call ins and staffing changes on the master schedule f. Escalate any challenges 3) Collateral a. Help to ensure that we are responding to received collaterals on day shift in a timely fashion b. Assist as needed with the decision on which patients to accept/deny c. Evaluate if Intake staffs are trending with denials for “placed at other facility” 4) Throughput a. Potential Admits/DCs i. Anticipated discharges by unit/time ii. Admits pending iii. Will either of above impact staffing b. Foster relationships with external admission sources
