About the Extern Program Orlando Health’s Accelerated RN Student Nurse Extern (ASNE) Program is a special program beginning on September 4, 2026 – February 27, 2027 or until graduation), one day a week, with preference given to students who do not have the summer off during the nursing program. An externship in nursing at Orlando Health will give you experience engaging with an essential piece of the profession… patients! ASNE's have an opportunity to: Expose you to nursing departments to gain experience, confidence and competence as you enter your senior year in nursing school Work directly with a RN trained preceptor… 1-on-1! This is an amazing opportunity to build a relationship with your preceptor and see first-hand a day in the life of a nurse at Orlando Health! Participate in supplementary educational sessions to continue your learning journey Build your confidence as a future nurse Work at one hospital on an assigned unit (assignment shared at the time of offer) Work up to 12 hours/week (Note: ASNE’s follow their preceptor’s schedule) Explore/apply to system-wide nursing opportunities to secure a graduate nurse position while in the program! It doesn’t end there!
