Clinical Nurse - Cardiovascular Care Unit

Location Site: Salem Hospital, 890 Oak Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97301 Department: Cardiovascular Care Unit Position Type: Full Time, 36 hours/week, Non-Exempt Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am, 12 hour shifts, variable scheduled days Your role with us This clinical nurse position features a unique opportunity in Salem Health's Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVCU), a Intensive Care specialty cardiac unit where you’ll care for patients with heart failure, post-surgical cardiac, thoracic, and vascular conditions, as well as those with acute coronary syndrome. You’ll also be involved in interventional cardiology and electrophysiology services. As part of the CVCU’s multidisciplinary team, you’ll be dedicated to delivering excellent care to a diverse community. Training opportunities span from novice to advanced cardiovascular intensive care, including Intra-aortic Balloon Pump, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Targeted Temperature Management, and Ventricular Assist Devices. What you'll do Perform accurate, ongoing, and relevant assessments for each assigned patient. Deliver patient care competently in alignment with individualized care plans. Plan and coordinate patient transfers or discharges to the appropriate level of care. Collaborate proactively with the healthcare team and patient families. Document assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient responses clearly and accurately. Anticipate patient needs and communicate effectively with team members. Required qualifications Requires a Bachelor of Science (BSN) or Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing, or non-nursing bachelor's degree with a Master of Science in nursing (MSN). Candidates with an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or graduate of a diploma RN program are also encouraged to apply; ADN applicants with less than five years of acute care experience will be required to sign an agreement committing to complete their BSN or MSN degree within three years of hire. Clinical Nurse - General Medical Unit

Location: Salem Hospital 890 Oak Street SE, Salem, Oregon 97301 Department: General Medical Unit Position Type: Full Time, 36 hours/week, Non-Exempt Schedule: 7:00 pm - 7:30 am, 12-hour shifts, variable scheduled days Your role with us: The General Medical Unit is one of four medical surgical units that provide care to a highly diverse population with diagnoses of heart failure, sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, COVID and patients with multiple co-morbidities. Patients have multiple medical diagnoses offering a variety of healthcare experiences for nurses. Medical Surgical Nurses develop a well-rounded knowledge base and are able to care for a wide range of different patients. The wide range of diagnoses coupled with the Care in Place model makes for a highly satisfying specialty. Nurses have the experience of caring for patients holistically and interact with multiple disciplines to navigate their patients through the hospital stay. They strive to provide an exceptional experience every time to patients and their families. What you'll do Perform comprehensive, age-appropriate assessments and communicate findings to the healthcare team. Develop individualized care plans considering medical, cultural, social, and developmental factors. Deliver nursing interventions in alignment with policies, patient needs, and care goals, including emergency response. Involve patients and families in care, promote self-care, and support education based on learning readiness. Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including assessments, interventions, education, and outcomes. Communicate clearly and effectively using SBAR, providing timely updates and coordinating with the team. Demonstrate leadership through evidence-based practice, mentoring, and effective charge nurse responsibilities. Support a safe care environment by following infection control practices and equipment safety protocols. Manage time and resources efficiently, including cross-training, floating, and maintaining supply levels. Actively engage in professional development and contribute to unit-based improvement initiatives. This role demands quick critical thinking, strong clinical judgment, and compassionate communication. You’ll assess, plan, intervene, and document care for patients across the lifespan while collaborating with a highly skilled, interdisciplinary team.
