As an Emergency Department (ED) Holding Registered Nurse (RN) on a PRN basis, you will bridge the gap between emergency triage and inpatient admission, providing high-quality, continuous clinical care, medication administration, and ongoing monitoring for patients safely waiting in our specialized ED holding area. This vital role operates within a high-acuity service line that holds a coveted provisional adult Level III Trauma Center designation and an "A" Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care per the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. What you will do in this role: You will identify patient’s functional problems based on symptoms and behavior changes. You will identify the cognitive functioning, the mental status and the physiological condition and needs of the patient. You will accurately document in patient’s record a description of the nursing care provided. You will administer medication in a safe, knowledgeable and accurate manner. You will assist the physician with examinations, test, and procedur4es. What qualifications you will need: Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with an Associates or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date). American Heart Association BLS Certification required. Current CPI certification.
