Job Responsibilities

Working in contract role in a local acute facility for a designated time period (usually 10-15 weeks)
Assisting patients in acute care facilities /li>
Ensuring the comfort and safety of patients by responding to their call lights and requests, and by reporting changes in their condition to the nursing supervisor
Taking and documenting patients' vital signs throughout the day, performing point of care testing (to include glucose checks when authorized)
Ensuring timely and accurate charting and documentation throughout the day
Serving meals and helping patients with feeding and hydration throughout the day and with other activities of daily living
Turning, positioning, and ambulating patients throughout the day and helping them to transport them within the facility
Respecting and protecting confidential patient information
Abiding by professional standards, Joint Commission standards, and facility policies, and complying with all federal, state, and local requirements
Being accountable to follow and adhere to patient care plans
Ensuring career and professional development by maintaining licensure, completing required training, and participating in educational opportunities

Qualifications and Skills

Active, unencumbered Virginia CNA license
Completion of state required training and/or state-sanctioned competency exam
At least 6 months experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (or in a related role)
BLS certification from the AHA
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
Immunizations as required
